Lance Snacks/Team Rensi Motorsports Quick Facts
Myrtle Beach (S.C.) Speedway - June 17, 2000

EVENT: NASCAR Busch Series, Grand National Division Myrtle Beach 250
TRACK: Myrtle Beach Speedway, .538-mile paved oval
MEDIA: Television - TNN, 9:30 p.m.; Radio - MRN, 9:30 p.m.

BACK AT THE BEACH: Andy Santerre will be making his first NASCAR Busch Series start at Myrtle Beach Speedway since July 11, 1998, when he finished 13th during his rookie campaign. He failed to qualify for last year's race, just a couple weeks removed from a four-month layoff due to a broken leg. Kenny Wallace drove the No. 25 Team Rensi Motorsports Chevrolet to a 21st place finish at Myrtle Beach in 1999.

SANTERRE IN 2000: The Myrtle Beach 250 will be Santerre's eighth race in 2000 and the second of six consecutive races in the Lance Snacks Chevrolet. Santerre's best finish was a sixth-place run at New Hampshire in May. He's coming off a superb 10th-place effort last weekend at South Boston (Va.) Speedway.

SANTERRE ON MYRTLE BEACH: "I'm really looking forward to Myrtle Beach. It's a good racetrack, and I enjoyed running there a couple of years ago. We need to run a little bit better than we tested recently, but we were pretty good on long runs during that test, pretty similar to how we ran at South Boston. We need to work on our qualifying because we need to get a good starting position. Hopefully we can come out with another top-10 run.

CREW CHIEF DAVID IFFT ON MYRTLE BEACH: "It's always hot there. That's an old, worn out track. You've got to have forward bite and you've got to keep the car turning and stay out of trouble. It's just like South Boston, it'll just be a matter of survival. You've just got to hope that you're around at the end, and if you are, then most likely you're going to finish well."

LIKE FATHER, LIKE SON: The Myrtle Beach 250, which begins just past 9:30 p.m. Saturday, will most likely end early Sunday morning, Father's Day. That will guarantee Ifft and son Gary, a tire specialist for the team, to be together at least part of the day. "There's a lot of fathers who can't be with their sons on that day, so that's special," David Ifft said. "It's just great to be able to work with Gary. We have our tough moments, but it's a great relationship."

SANTERRE ON FATHER'S DAY: "Father's Day is a special day to remember all my father has done for and sacrificed for me. He was a championship racer in his own right, winning six dirt modified championships before I was born. He gave it all up to raise four kids. He never looked back after giving racing up and put his effort into the family. It wasn't until I was older that he started going back to the track again. I owe him everything I am right now!"
