Santerre Develops Unique Promotion To Aid Choose Life Foundation!

Harrisburg, NC - NASCAR Busch Series regular, Andy Santerre, announces a unique promotion which offers race fans a chance to sponsor a section of his NASCAR Busch North racecar for the nationally-televised September 16, 2000 Busch North Series event at New Hampshire International Speedway. All proceeds will benefit The Choose Life Foundation, Inc.

For a $5.00 raffle ticket, fans will have the chance to sponsor the trunk deck on an authentic NASCAR Busch North Series racecar. In addition to the sponsorship, the winner and a guest (both must be 18 years or older) will be named honorary pit crew members of the #44 Andy Santerre Motorsports team for the Busch North event, receive a tour of the NASCAR Winston Cup Series garage, be honored as special guests at the 2nd Annual Andy Santerre Fan Appreciation party, receive one night's lodging in the greater Concord, New Hampshire area, and receive $50 in spending cash.

Santerre, a Cherryfield, Maine native, wants to help raise awareness for The Choose Life Foundation with this unique and exciting promotion and to help raise funds for what he believes is a worthwhile and needed cause.

"The Choose Life Foundation was started by close, personal friends of mine," Santerre explained. "Wayne and Beth Wright have been my friends since high school and they even stood up for Sue and I at our wedding four years ago. When Beth was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1997, it was the first time the deadly disease hit close to home for me. Our thoughts and prayers immediately went out to Beth, Wayne and their seven month old son, Joseph, because that was all we felt we could do for her at the time." Santerre continues, "Beth was given a clean bill of health after six months of chemotherapy. However, the cancer returned two years later, shortly after the birth of her second son, Joshua. This time, the cancer had spread to her liver and spine and the prognosis wasn't positive - Beth was given no hope for recovery and less than a year to survive. She was 26 years old and had a three-month old and 2 1/2 year old son. I remember wishing there was something I could do to help her. Now there is something I can do."

Beth Wright is a living miracle, having survived metastasized breast cancer for over a year and a half and feeling better now than she did a year ago. In the face of this life threatening illness, Wright had a desire to help other cancer patients realize that they had choices, and that they could find hope for recovery in the face of this deadly disease. She founded the Choose Life Foundation, an organization dedicated to improve and enhance the lives of cancer patients by providing literature and information which offer inspiration and hope.

In her own words, Beth Wright explains, "After my second diagnosis, my husband and I started making plans for the end. But through research I began to find stories of survival, people who had been given a terminal diagnosis, yet they still recovered. These stories renewed my hope and I wanted to share this hope with other cancer survivors. I founded the Choose Life Foundation to develop a library and distribute this inspirational and educational literature to facilities that treat cancer patients. I am also putting together care packages for any cancer patient or loved one who is interested." Beth Wright continues, "I believe that we all have the capacity to heal, yet I don't believe that there is any one particular formula. Everyone's path will be as different and as unique as we are as individuals. We need to remember we are not statistics, we are human beings with our own special qualities."

Santerre hopes to help Wright raise money and awareness for the Choose Life Foundation by raffling off a section of his racecar and donating the money to Wright.

"I have felt helpless since Beth's first diagnosis, "Santerre, the 1998 Busch Series "Rookie of the Year" confessed. "I vowed to myself that if I ever had the power to help her, I would. When she started the foundation, I felt I could help her make it successful." Santerre adds, "My wife and I came up with the idea to raffle off the trunk lid of the car late one night while watching another form of racing. We pitched the idea to Beth and we hope we are in the process of making the promotion a reality."
